TK MISSION

"Talita Kumi, little girl, arise! (Ineng, magbangon ka!)
Due to extreme poverty the education of Filipino children has taken a backseat. This sad situation is compounded by the rampant use of illegal drugs and wanton criminality.

What we do

TKPFI's main goal is to help young girls from traumatized backgrounds in their education, as well as in their spiritual, physical and mental well-being.

EDUCATION

TKPFI supports the ineng’s education from Kindergarten to High School. So far, there are three (3) High School graduates from the program, all taking college courses in various colleges and universities in Metro Manila.

Many TKPFI Inengs are honor students, garnering academic excellence awards in their respective schools. The teachers find most of the TKPFI scholars are motivated, eager to learn and happy to volunteer in school.

SPIRITUAL FORMATION

The TKPFI “Inengs” go to Catholic parochial schoolsto ensure that they are imbued with Christian values. As a result, they are not only formed academically but also to live by their Catholic faith through prayers, regular Mass attendance and spreading this to their families. Many Inengs bring their families to Sunday Mass. They regularly pray the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be. Because of this, they develop not just their academic skills, but more importantly, they get to meet and know Jesus who is raising them up, learning His teachings and living these teachings in their daily lives.

The Inengs’ families also undergo spiritual enrichment through the TKPFI annual recollection. And this builds Community.

PHYSICAL WELL BEING

For their physical well-being, TKPFI provides meals for the Inengs throughout the schoolyear, as well as their uniforms and other miscellaneous needs. Transportaion is also given with their safety to and from school being paramount. Should calamities, like floods, etc. occur, the Love Enablers/Site Coordinators extend help to the Inengs and their families.

PYSCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL WELL BEING

Since the TKPFI Inengs come from traumatized backgrounds, TKPFI closely monitors their mental health through the LOVE ENABLERS who coordinate with the teachers and guidance counselors of their respective schools where they are enrolled to assess the psychological state of Inengs. If special attention is needed, the guidance counsellors extend time and effort to assist the Inengs and progress is reported to the Love Enablers/Site Coordinators. Should the problem be larger – extending to the families – the TKPFI Board discusses the case and decides what path/option to take, always with the Inengs’ well being in mind.
